Care Instructions Preparation
Prepare to welcome your kitten home by making sure you have these items on hand. Below are Amazon products that we use with the affiliate Link attached.
Water Bowls
We recommend getting a running water fountain so your kitten stays hydrated. The stainless steel ones are easier to keep clean.
Food Bowls
We prefer gravity feeder bowls to let your kitten have access to food at all times. Pixiebobs do not stop their growth process until they are 4 years old. So let them eat as much as they want, at least in their growing years. A food bowl with a wide base is best. Pixiebobs do not like their whiskers touching the edges of the bowl while they eat.
Food
We highly recommend a high protein wet and dry diet for your little carnivore.
The kittens have a rotating protein rich wet food regimen with access to dry food at all times. We feed them canned food once in the morning and once at night. One kitten can consume up to two cans a day depending on their appetite. Feed them as much as they want for the first year.

The brands we use in our households are Nulo and Tiki Cat
Nulo cat and kitten dry food ensures they get lots of moisture in their diet as it is one of the few dry foods with a higher moisture content..
We also use Tiki Cat after dark wet food. Try to stay away from fish. Once cats get a taste for food with fish, they tend to only want that and become picky eaters.

If you decide to use a different brand of food with your kitten, introduce small amounts of the new food as part of their regular food over a period of approximately five to seven days. Start by replacing 20% of your cat's regular food with the new food, and mix them together. Gradually increase the ratio of new food to regular food until you are feeding your cat 100% of the new food.
Treats
We recommend these freeze dried chicken bites! This is what we use in our households
Litter Supplies
These are the litters that we use the most often and that our kittens are litter trained with.
We will let you know which one before your kitten arrives.
We prefer to use covered litter boxes, because it reduces the smell and sifting litter boxes. If you choose to use an uncovered and non sifting litter box, make sure it has high sides, this reduces less mess. Don't forget a litter mat to protect your floors and consider using bathroom deodorizer instead of cat litter ones, they smell better and you can spray them directly onto the litter! Here are our favorites:
Cat Beds
most pixiebobs prefer one that they can hide in, if given a choice.
Toys
These are our favorites!
Grooming Tools
Cat brush: We recommend a shedding brush and a flea comb for normal grooming and a mat brush if they are long hair.
Cat Tree/Scratching Posts
Scratching post or strips: A tall cat condo is always a hit. If you don’t have the space for a large cat tree, than small scratching posts will do the job. Here are our favorites:
Cat Carriers
If you plan on traveling with your pixiebob here are the pre approved travel carriers that we use. The hard case is the one we use the most for shipping. And cat backpacks are always a must!
Leash & Harness
We introduce our kittens to a harness before they leave our home. Three months is a perfect age to start leash training. Purchase a harness or walking jacket designed for cats, and make sure the leash attachment is located on the back of the harness — not the neck. It’s not safe to walk cats on traditional collars. We prefer the simple harnesses over other brands. Like the ones below.
